“As millions of families struggle with addiction, children are caught in the fray.”  The American Academy of Pediatrics, in partnership with Casey Family Programs, has issued state-by-state and national fact sheets that provide a snapshot of the impact that the nation’s opioid crisis is having on families. The national fact sheet reports that 270,000 children entered foster care in 2016. One in five were infants. In one third of these placements,  parental substance use was a key factor. The fact sheets also highlight policy solutions designed to support children and families at the state and federal level. Find your state fact sheet here.
